Handicapped Athletes Learning to Enjoy Riding

Volunteer Training

Because we are NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped Association, Inc) sanctioned, volunteers are required to receive training before they are to work with the program. Only those 15 or older allowed to work directly with clients. Experience and knowledge of horses is not necessary. Training covers basics of working with people with disabilities, horse handling and volunteer responsibilities. Also, this will be a good introduction for riding instructors and therapists interested in pursuing further education in therapeutic riding.

If you are interested in volunteering, please check the HALTER Calendar (click on the link) for the most updated Volunteer Training schedule. For more information about Volunteer Training, please email handicappedathletes@gmail.com or call Mike Hollifield at 577-7638.

Pony Pals

This program is for volunteers 10 to 14 years of age. They cannot help in the arena but can groom, tack and assist with the horses outside the arena. They must attend a volunteer training session and follow all other volunteer requirements.

Thank you!!

We recognize the importance of volunteers and truly appreciate anyone who is willing and able to participate in this rewarding program. Thank you!!
